I attend Strength for Life at the Unley Community Centre and have just started my 3rd year.
I joined because my friend had been attending and she kept encouraging me to attend for the benefit my health; I had had knee surgery, I also have Osteoporosis and was generally overweight. I love that fact that the instructor Kelly knows what she is doing and has a great knowledge of our needs. The location is very convenient and it’s a big room with lots of space and the gym is very well-equipped.
I noticed towards the end of the first 12 months that my strength in my legs was very much improved, my balance had improved, I am much stronger and active. I now attend 2 classes per week. My walking is much more improved.
I love the social aspect, very friendly group and we go to a café after the session for coffee and chat which is very delightful, a group of them now go on holiday together and it is lovely hearing about their adventures when they get back. It is a very inclusive group.
The instructor Kelly is fantastic, takes an interest in every member of the class. She offers a variety in our warmup activities and a provides an individual program, taking into account and soreness or injury we may have. Her interpersonal skills are excellent. I have tried to encourage some of my friends to join SFL stating the benefit it has been to me and could be to them. A really great program for all.
