I am attending 2 sessions of Strength for Life at Burnside Civic Centre and have been attending for about 3 years.
I started going to Strength for Life because I was wanting a fitness program which was affordable and had age appropriate exercises; we are old machines, and we need regular servicing.
Strength for Life makes you aware of your general well-being, including the need to maintain your balance, strength and posture. It helps make you aware of how your older body can become uncenter and keeps you focused on your mind and body.
It’s a great group of people from generally similar backgrounds and live locally, we have great chats, swap books, recommend movies, have coffee afterward and learn about each other and offer help and assistance if needed. Instructors and participants are very inviting and welcoming to any newcomers. It has a great community spirit about it. The instructor Clo is exceptionally good. We feel safe and well supervised, there is an emphasis on improving balance through left and right brain stimulation and focus. We are constantly being extended with strength exercises.
I could not afford a commercial gym nor in my past experience would I get as much care and respect as we are all show here at Burnside. I would definitely and I do recommend anyone who is thinking about joining to do so, many of our group have joined through word of mouth.
