Testimonial from Barry Elsey OAM

I originally started my Strength for Life Program at Nailsworth Community Centre but moved to Strike Force Prospect as it is more convenient to my home, I have been attending for approximately 2 years.

The reason I decided to join Strength for Life is an aged-related thing; as you get older you become aware that your mobility is on the decline. I ride bikes and walk but Strength for Life has slotted in things that I may not normally do as it gives you an awareness of mobility and the need to stay strong.

Strength for Life is a group activity and I love the social aspect; it’s good for your mental stimuli, but you are also doing good for your health and wellbeing. My wife tells me that I am walking straighter than I used to and I am more upright in my posture, which must be a good thing.

The instructor Patrick is first class; he knows his stuff, takes his time to explain, and I love the individual program. He is very supportive. All the instructors have the same spirit, and guide you in a very friendly manner, all very supportive of the program and understand the needs and abilities of the people in the class.

To anyone wanting to or thinking about joining Strength for Life, I would encourage them to try, it certainly will do no harm. Everyone is very supportive, and I am sure they would enjoy it. I see Strength for Life as something for the local community and as a connection point in your life and community.
